Edit: The bad news now is that I am burnt out on drawing and the comic is currently on hiatus.
The good news is I plan to return to the comic (most likely after a few month off) & that i am actively working on another project (a novel so i can focus on just the writing rather then something that i don't have a degree in).

The bad news is I'm busy moving over 200 miles up north to the middle of no where with no internet. The good news is that I will no longer have a killer work/ sleep schedule and will be getting the internet hooked up Tuesday (the 29th). The plot will resume then! While I don't expect to get much rest on my birthday weekend (the 28th), after that I should be able to get a consistent 8 hours a night for the first time in months. That should make it much easier to not only get back to the normal updating schedule for the comic but also let me start another project I have been brainstorming for a while now. Until then I think I'll pretend that I can't see in the dark so that between Robin and I at least one of us gets to play Diablo 3.

ps In case anyone was wondering she is playing a barbarian, and the fact that on inferno they are not viable in melee against champion packs makes her very angry.

As I said on twitter the internet people came but there was some sort of problem in the line between the cabin and the road and I do not have my high speed internet yet. I have the slowest dial up they have right now, and am waiting for them to call and tell me when they can fix all this. I do not believe i can upload a pic with this slow of internet but i will still keep drawing as fast as my writer's block will allow. I am having trouble committing to one of the two directions i could go for the next chapter but need to set up for one or the other in this next page.

Well, it must be a hit not being able to use the internet your bithday day, right?
I mean, because you'd get a few "Happy birthday" messages from a bunch of people, and you won't be able to see them.
Or this comment.

I can barrow my dad's I phone to check comments I just can't upload pics with it. I does help with internet withdraws though and in this case birthday wishes if you guys want to send them.
Barreytor Thu, 24th May 11:54 AM, 2012 edit delete reply
Darn. Well, it's not like I could just back off on sending until after time's up, since email thingies do have timestamps.

Good luck with the moving, and the getting the internet thing after the moving.

(My initial attempt at spelling that wasn't bad, since I'd read it in Romanji a few hours ago, and sung it a little. My Japanese teacher is -awesome-, by the way.)

I *love* the effects on that picture.
Also, Robin should know her plan of avoiding attention will immediately go wrong as soon as Charity walks in the door. There aren't enough side-characters to ignore the two of them together.

You misspelled "moving" (moveing). Good comic so far, and its getting better.
Guest Mon, 11th Jun 3:30 PM, 2012 edit delete reply
Typos happen. its best to just ignore them. I find them in printed work all the time.
Wisknort Fri, 15th Jun 6:35 AM, 2012 edit delete reply
Printed work, sure. Not so true with webcomics.

But in this case, I don't know if Kai has an editor, but either way, stuff still slips through - not that that prevents him from fixing it, once he's aware of the issue. And who better to help bring it to his attention?
Sure, it's minor, and maybe petty. But the next people will find higher quality work because of it.
My approach is, I'm here to help, but not be pretentious about it - I'm not better than the author for finding his typos. He'd find mine before I do, probably. But people will benefit from it, so it's worth doing. And, since Kai can delete posts, it means he can clear the corrections once he's implemented them. (Though when we make threads like this, it makes it a harder decision for him. :P)

Hey Kai. Dunno what your state on internet is currently, but at the very least, if you've got enough, can you give us a message saying you're fine? I'm getting a bit worried, since I haven't heard from you in a while.

Sorry to worry you I've been having a weird summer so far. between the internet problems and later my car breaking down 130 miles out of town among other things this is my second full week where things are going as planed. during my exile from the internet i figured i might as well go ahead and start on the other project i was planing on doing at the same time as the comic. long story short I'm still burnt out on drawing, but have well over 100 pages of notes for my novel and am fully engaged in working on that now. I am happily devoting every moment of free time to it right now to the point that i haven't played any video games in over a month, so the comic was not the only world i dropped off the face of ;p

Ah. Good to hear you're still ok at least. And damn, what is with the universe and trolling webcomic authors with a long string of misfortunes? (Kudos to anyone who can place that last bit.)

What games do (did) you play? I'll join you for some if we find any that match.

Oooh, a novel? I shall await it with eagerness. (And some patience... Only enough to stop me going crazy.)

recently I was playing diablo 3 but normally I play world of war craft though when i logged in today for the first time in a month my account had been hacked and my main (85 human holy pally on suramor) had been deleted. I'm in the process of getting it back. though if it had to happen some time I'm glad it was during a lull in raiding, and when I have the novel to distract me.

At first, I really liked your take of "breaking the fourth wall." It reminded me of some of the things John Byrne did in his The Sensational She-Hulk, but their the glamorous green gal was addressing the audience...

Then I realized this was a kind of Duck Amuck author vs character interaction with the 4th wall firmly in tact (well there is a little ambiguity from time to time). It's fun and it works... and I can imagine a number of stories that could use this technique... though at times it reminds me of a ventriloquists dummy developing its own personality... ^_^

Whoah. Font change. And you've edited the title.
Does that mean...? Welcome back!

This is just a fan observation, and last before I leave for good.
1: infinite pocket space. She can put any one thing of almost any kind in her pockets and hair if it has enough volume, with out adding any weight or volk.
2: natural laws nullification. Allow her to ignore almost any if not al natural laws like gravity. How ever, she doesn't seem to be in control of that power.
3: pun power up. If she says an appropriate pun when attacking, her power increase far beyond human.

That's all I got, thank you.

Leaving for good? Because we haven't heard from Kai in too long? Well, understandable. But I have faith it'll be back, and I intend to be here when that happens.

Thanks for the support. I had a productive summer working on my novel (over 300 pages of notes 37 of plot and prologue chapters 1 and 2 hashed out). right now though i am poor again and need to find a paying job that hopefully i can keep working on the novel while doing. Once that all gets worked out and i find a bit of a rhythm plan to revisit BDWH and start drawing again, though probably only once a week. your loyalty is really moving and will probably be enough to guilt me back no mater what job i get but i wanted to let you know that it probably wont be this month or probably even next since i need to straighten out the rest of my life right now.

Hey Kai, just found your comic and trawled through the archives for awhile. Having a lot of fun with it, hope you'll be in a situation to start working on it again soon. ^_^

So, hi. I just recently discovered the comic (Via Tv Tropes) read through the archives and, seriously, wow. The degrees of meta-aware context was a privilege to read. Thank you, and I hope you have the time and interest to return to this comic.

2 years and still nothing. I was hoping that after that long it might have updated. This comic puns don't seem to go away from my head.
